Funeral Services for Mrs. Jane Phinney were held in the Heyer chapel on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Christian Science services were conducted by Mrs. Marion Dismuke. Mrs. Wegemen sang two solos, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown." Pall bearers were Rube Padgett, Robert Noyce, Hern Gilliland, Elmer King, Logan Crawford and John Lusk. Internment was in the Steamboat cemetery.
Mary Jane Winne, daughter of Abram and Sarah Winne, was born in Kansas January 6, 1860, and passed away at Steamboat Springs August, 8 1945, at the age of 85 years, seven months and two days. She went with her parents to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1877, living there until 1899 when she moved to Steamboat Springs, where she has since resided. She was united in marriage with Daniel Phinney December 23 1877, in Dakota Territory. To this union two children were born, Charles Phinney, now of Beatty, Nevada and Ina, Mrs. Ervy Lamunyan of Salmon City, Idaho. Other relatives are a sister, Mrs. Edith Holman of Poncha Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The sister, Mrs. Holman, a grandson and a granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lamunyan of Ogden, Utah, and two nieces, Miss Edith McClure and Mrs. Clare Gilchrist of Hot Springs, South Dakota attended the funeral. Mrs. Holman was accompanied by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Winne Holman and son of Poncha Springs. The son, Charles Phinney, was unable to come.
Mrs. Phinney lived a long and useful life and numbered her friends by the score.
