Yoshio “Yo” Tanihara, 88, Cory, died Dec. 24, 2012, at his home.
No services are planned.
He is survived by his wife, Toyoko; one son, Jason of Novato, Calif.;
two daughters, Cynthia Perkins of Anaheim, Calif., and Joyce
Tanihara of Cedaredge; and one brother, Ray of Vallejo, Calif.

Longtime Delta County resident,
Yoshio "Yo" Tanihara, passed
away peacefully surrounded by
his family on Monday, December
24, 2012, at his home in Cory,
Colorado. He was 88 years of age.
Upon Yo's request, no services
will be held.
Yoshio Tanihara was born to
Kisaku and Tamayo (Dehari)
Tanihara on February 25, 1924, in Florin, California. He spent his
childhood and attended schools in Florin. Yo was in the Japanese
American internment camps. Upon dissolution of the camps, he
honorably served his country with the United States Army. During
the Korean Conflict, Yo served as an intelligence officer.
On December 26, 1956, Yo married Toyoko Wakamoto in Las Vegas,
Nevada. The Tanihara's resided in Garden Grove, California,
before moving to Cory, Colorado February 1, 1970. Yo and Toy
would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this month.
Yo and Toy owned and operated H & Y Garden Shop in Delta and
Cory until retiring in 1997. Yo enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling ,
and bonsai, the art of miniature trees. In his spare time, Yo enjoyed
working with his hands and could fix almost anything. He also ran a
lawn mower and small engine repair shop for many years. Above
all, Yo was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather .
Yo was a member of the Florin Buddhist Church in Florin, California.
Yoshio is survived by his wife, Toyoko Tanihara of Cory, CO; two
daughters, Cynthia Perkins of Anaheim, CA, Joyce Tanihara and Art
Trevena of Cedaredge, CO; a son, Jason Tanihara, his wife, Verona,
and their son, Sid of Novato, CA; and one brother, Ray Tanihara and
wife, May of Vallejo, CA.
Yoshio was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, and one
sister.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Yo's
memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O.
Box 24, Delta, Colorado 81416.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral
Service and Crematory.
