Robert L. Zarlingo, 64, Grand Junction, died March 30, 2013,
at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Catholic Church, followed by a reception at Bookcliff Country
Club.
Mr. Zarlingo owned an automobile repair business and a convenience
store.
Survivors include his wife, Cathie; two daughters, Darcie Zarlingo
of San Antonio and Lacey Milligan of Grand Junction; one
brother, Larry of Grand Junction; and one sister, Linda Kramer of
Grand Junction.

Robert “Bob” Lee Zarlingo of
Grand Junction, passed away on
March 30, 2013, at the age of 64.
Bob was born July 26, 1948, in
Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He
spent his early childhood years in
Rifle prior to his family moving
to Grand Junction in 1959. He
graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1966. Bob attended
Mesa Junior College and Colorado State University graduating in
1971 with a Bachelors of Science in Forest Management. Following
college, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Vail and Minturn,
Colorado. Shortly after graduating college, Bob’s father passed
away, and he took over the family business, Lee’s Standard on 7 th
and Main Street in Grand Junction. Robert's brother, Larry join ed
the business and together they owned and operated Horizon Drive
Standard and Zarlingo’s Automotive.
On October 7, 1979, Bob married the love of his life, Cathie
Chambers of Grand Junction. Together, they have two daughters,
Darcie and Lacey.
Bob was an active member of the community, volunteering for
various organizations. He was a longtime committee member of the
local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and served as
Chairman in 1996. He was President of the Board of Directors of
Bookcliff Country Club in 2002. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing,
traveling, and spending time with his family. Bob retired in
2010 at the age of 62.
He was a loving and devoted son, brother, nephew, husband, and
father. To his golfing buddies he was known as “Zippy” or
“Z-Man”, a true friend who was always there if someone was in
need.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Lee Zarlingo and his
mother, Filomae Zarlingo. He is survived by his wife, Cathie, and
two daughters, Darcie Zarlingo of San Antonio, Texas, and Lacey
(Bret) Milligan of Grand Junction; one brother, Larry (Sandy)
Zarlingo of Grand Junction, and one sister, Linda Kramer of Grand
Junction.
A rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Memorial services will be held at 2:0 0
p.m., April 5, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church
in Grand Junction. A reception will follow the service at Bookcliff
Cecilia Rosalie Adamson Country Club.
