Celebration of life for Linda Carol Stephens Metcalf.
Steve Metcalf and the family of Linda Stephens Metcalf would like to invite friends, loved ones and past students of Linda's to a celebration of her life on Sunday, May 18, at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle The celebration of her life will begin at 1 p.m. with a small memorial of Linda's life along with music and pictures, followed by a potluck lunch and fellowship. Anyone who would like to bring a dish to share is welcome to, but this is not necessary.
In lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations to the Eagle Food Pantry of the Methodist Church of Eagle at PO Box 546, Eagle, CO 81631. This would make Linda very happy and proud. Linda helped at the food pantry every Tuesday and some Thursdays. The food pantry at the Methodist Church is a very busy place on Tuesday and Thursday, so any donation would be very much appreciated.
Steve and the family of Linda would like to say thank you for all of your good thoughts and prayers. I personally would like to say thank you to everyone I meet in public that tell me what a kind and wonderful person Linda was, and how she had touched them in some small way and will be missed. I hope to see you all at the pavilion to celebrate Linda's life and the life she would want us to live. While Linda is not with us physically, she will always be with us spiritually and would want us to live life to the fullest with passion and a smile on our face.

Linda Carol Stephens Metcalf, longtime resident of the Eagle Valley, passed away on Dec. 1.

Linda was born to Frank and Irene Stephens in Robbinsdale, Minn., on July 6, 1954. Linda attended elementary and high School in Robbinsdale. After graduating from high school, Linda attended college at the University of Minnesota and received a degree in elementary education. She moved to the Western Slope of Colorado in 1983 to teach in Cedaredge, where she met her husband of 30 years, Steve Metcalf. Linda and Steve moved to Avon in 1985 after she accepted an opportunity to teach at Red Sandstone Elementary School in Vail. Linda taught there for 10 years.

Steve and Linda were married in 1990. Soon after their marriage they built their home in Eagle and have called Eagle home ever since. Linda transferred to Eagle Valley Elementary School in 1995 and taught until 2003. Linda loved teaching the children, she loved to read and she loved to take care of her garden. Most of all, Linda loved volunteering at the Methodist church food pantry twice a week. She would help sack the groceries and give them to deserving individuals.

Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Metcalf; her mother, Irene Stephens; and her sister, Amy Jeane Stephens.

Linda’s memorial will be scheduled later next year at the Beaver Creek Chapel.

Steve, Amy and Irene would like to say thank you to everyone for their prayers, love and strength. Peace be with you.
