Virginia “Gini” L. Hazen Ingalsbe
passed away at her home
in Montrose, Colorado on February
28, 2013. She was 97.
Gini's life revolved around her
family. She met the love of her
life the day before her 18th birthday
and deeply loved and was
proud of George, her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was very interested
i n a l l t h a t t h e y d i d a n d b u i l t
strong relationships with each of
them in spite of the geographical
distances that separated them over
most of her life. On more than
one occasion she said that she was
a "deprived Grandma and
Great-Grandma" because of the
distances.
Gini was born on February 10, 1916, and raised in Yakima,
Washington. She attended what is now Central Washington University
in Ellensburg, Washington.
In 1938 she married George W. Ingalsbe Jr., also of the Yakima
area, and they were married for over 70 years until his death in
2009. While married they lived in Kelso, Seattle and Richland
Washington, Astoria, Oregon, Grand Junction, Colorado and Bethesda,
Maryland. While in Bethesda, Gini worked for the Hecht
Company Department Store near their home. After retirement in
1975, they returned to Yakima, Washington and in 2005, to Grand
Junction, Colorado. Since 2009, Gini has made her home in Sunrise
Creek Assisted Living in Montrose. While there, she thrived with
the love and care of the wonderful staff and residents.
While living in Grand Junction, Gini volunteered at St. Mary's
Hospital for many years. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society
and was very involved in several ministries at their Cath olic
Parishes. Playing golf, working in her yard and traveling were other
passions that enriched her life.
Gini is survived by her son, Duane Ingalsbe with wife, Kathy of
Springfield, VA; her daughter, Denise Ludwig with husband, Jack
of Ridgway, CO; grandsons, Michael Ingalsbe with wife, Karen of
Woodbridge, VA; Mark Ludwig with wife, Deanna of Highlands
Ranch, CO; Drew Ludwig of Telluride, CO; granddaughter, Laura
Allen with husband, Michael of Superior, CO, and great-grandchil -
dren, Drake and Bailey Ludwig; Nicholas and Garret Allen, and
Connor Ingalsbe.
Each and every member of her family and her many friends will
miss her love and affection, her energy, her delight in playful teasing,
and her sense of humor. Time spent with her always led to
laughter, hilarity and surprises.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday March 9th, at 10:30
a.m. at St. Daniels Catholic Church, Ouray, CO. Visitation will be
from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8th at Crippin Funeral
Home Chapel in Montrose. Rite of Committal will take place
on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.
