Lloyd P. Stauder, 78, of Trumbull,, died peacefully with family members by his side Tuesday, July 30, 2013. He was born to the late Edward and Gladys Stauder on February 3, 1935 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. After graduating as president of his class and valedictorian from Lafayette Junior High in Elizabeth he transferred to Allen Park High School, Allen Park, Michigan, where he excelled as a leader in many organizations and graduated first in his class with several varsity sports letters.
Before high school graduation he also achieved Boy Scouts of America highest honor of Eagle Scout in which he took great pride. He then went on to the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with high honors earning a BS in mechanical engineering. Additionally, he received the army’s highest award for four years of ROTC and became a first LT. in the US Army.
Despite his many accomplishments throughout his life he took the greatest pride in his wife, his six children, Dan Stauder and his wife Sara of Lake Forest, IL, Susan Fatse and her husband Brian of Trumbull, Joe Stauder and his wife Beth of Des Plaines, IL. Katie Amighi and her husband Saman of Framingham, MA, Paul Stauder and his wife Janet of Chester, NJ, Christian Stauder and his wife Jessica of Westport and his eighteen grandchildren.
In 1957, he married the light of his life, Jeannine Carey of Toledo, OH. The Stauders spent two years of military service in the Army based in California. Upon completion of his military service he was granted a full scholarship to Georgetown law school which he completed in 1963 and relocated with his family to Connecticut where he began his career with General Electric Company. He subsequently worked for Cluett Peabody Inc. as their international licensing manager.
In 1972, Lloyd joined Warnaco Inc., as Assistant General Counsel and spent 14 years becoming President of Warnaco International and Chief Administrative Officer of Warnaco Inc.
In 1976 the family moved to their present home in Trumbull. The house was always filled with friends of the children which Lloyd always enjoyed and encouraged. He retired from the William Carter Company in 1993 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
For thirty years he and his wife spent time each winter in Steamboat Springs, CO skiing where they developed many good friendships.
Among Lloyd’s numerous accomplishments and activities that made his family very proud were participation in various civic activities including Vice-Chairman of the Monroe Republican Party, lector for St. Jude’s Church, President of the Monroe Jaycees and Chairman of the Trumbull town council. He also received the Outstanding Young Man award in 1967, was a Knight of Malta and was part of the Prison Ministry.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held August 2 at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull and interment with Full Military Honors took place at Nichols Farm Burial Grounds.
