Shirley V. McCrary, 85, passed
away on Sunday, March 3, 2013
at Hospice & Palliative Care of
Western Colorado in Grand Junction,
CO. She was born on December
4, 1927 in Concrete, CO
to Charles Francis Jenkins III and
Gladys (Drake) Jenkins.
Shirley grew up in Canon City
and Florence, CO. She graduated
from Centennial High School in Pueblo, CO in 1946.
She married Harry Lewis McCrary in 1947 in Olathe, KS. They
were happily married for 58 years.
Shirley worked for Harry McCrary Construction, CO as Vice
President. She retired in 1984 after 21 years.
Shirley was a member of Girl Scouts (also as a leader), and masonic
groups: The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls ;
Eastern Star; White Shrine; and Daughters of the Nile. She was also
a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading,
playing piano and the organ, listening to music, the outdoors,
crocheting, and especially her many travels.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents
Charles and Gladys Jenkins, her son Kevin McCrary and daughter
Kathryn McCrary-Divinny. Shirley is survived by her daughter
Karen McCrary of Grand Junction, CO, her granddaughter Paige
Foss (Lance Foss) of Grand Junction, CO and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at Callahan- Edfast Mortuary 2515
Patterson Rd. at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday March 12, 2013. The family
will be greeting friends and relatives at a reception at Callahan-Edfast
immediately following the memorial service. Burial and release
of doves will follow at Orchard Mesa Cemetery (Masonic section).
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made
to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 700 14th Street, Denver, CO
80202.
