Steamboat Today - December 4, 2013

Pam (Woodsie) Turner, our spirited friend, left this world on November 28, 2013.
Pam was born on September 7, 1949 in Portales, New Mexico. She grew up in Grants, New Mexico and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Nutrition and Education. After graduation, Pam was proud to have taught school at the Laguna-Acoma Reservation. The Native American people and traditions were always close to her heart.
Pam moved to Steamboat in 1975, and immediately fell in love with the mountains. Her passion and appreciation for nature, her love of wildlife and the outdoor lifestyle kept her in the Steamboat Valley for over 35 years. A huge animal lover, Pam could often be seen with her beloved dog. She was most happy being on the river, camping in her RV, tending her greenhouse and spending time at her dearly loved home. Woodsie cherished her friends and a special place in her heart was reserved for her “kids”. Pam was a proud “Dos” girl and was well known as the successful owner of Shady Lady Interiors.
Woodsie will be remembered for her contagious laugh and sense of humor, her love of life and adventure, and her enduring friendships.
Pam is survived by her sister Joan (Patrick), her brother Dave (Amy), her loving nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Donations can be made to Pam’s favorite cause, for whom she volunteered over 10 years:
Humble Ranch Equine Therapy Center.
PO Box 776290, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
Humbletherapy.org
A celebration of her life will be held in Steamboat in Spring/Summer. An exact date will be announced.
“Mijo, lo unico que necesita en la vida es ganas.”
Our dear Woodswoman will be forever in our hearts.
