Mildred R. Hubbard, age 91,
went home to be with her beloved
Lord and Savior on Thursday,
March 21, 2013, at The
Residence of Grand Mesa.
Mildred was born to George
Stell and Martha Ames Stell in
Grand Junction, Colorado on June
1, 1921. She was a life-time resident
of Colorado. She married
Lyman “Sie” Hubbard on July 7, 1937, and to this union was born
five children. Sie and Mildred spent their entire married life cattle
ranching in Gateway.
Mildred was very active in the Gateway community. She was involved
in Western Colorado and Eastern Utah Cattle and Wool
Growers Association, the 4-H program, P.T.A., Gateway Community
Club, Home Demonstration Club, and served as an election
judge. In addition, Mildred wrote local Gateway news which for
many years was published in The Daily Sentinel. She was a faithful
servant at Wayside Chapel where she attended church.
After the passing of her husband, Mildred retired to Fruita, Colorado
where she was active in Mesa County Cowbells, Christian
Women's Club, Explorer's Bible Study, and was an active member
of Loma Community Church. Mildred had the gift of hospitality and
had a hot meal, an open door, and a word of scripture for all those in
need.
She leaves behind three sons, Lyman "Kelly" (JaNella) of Whitewater;
Jim of Gateway, and Bill (Becky) of Loma; two daughters ,
Marilyn (Elbert) Colcord of Cahone, and Carolyn (Steve) Williams
of LaGrange, WY. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Alice
Hubbard of Loma; 14 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 26
g r e a t - g r a n d c h i l d r e n ; 1 3 s t e p - g r e a t - g r a n d c h i l d r e n ; t h r e e
great-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous
nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded
in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 25,
2013, at Martin Mortuary.

Mildred Rebecca Hubbard, 91, Grand Junction, died March
21, 2013, at The Residence of Grand Mesa.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Martin Mortuary.
Ms. Hubbard was a retired cattle rancher.
Survivors include three sons, Lyman of Whitewater, James O. of
Gateway and William “Bill” of Loma; and two daughters, Marilyn
M. Colcord of Cahone and Carolyn Williams of La Grange, Wyo.
