Longtime local homesteader Ardyth Hyde CALHOUN passed away on Sunday, at her home of 92 years, peacefully and surrounded by many of her loving family members.
Ardyth was born on the HYDE family homestead ranch on Lake Creek on Jan. 22, 1918. She went to school in Edwards and later graduated from the high school in Eagle.
After graduating from school, she met and married Con Ira CALHOUN in 1937. They traveled through the state of Colorado installing telephone lines. They had four wonderful sons--Stanley, Bert, Gary and Larry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Goldie HYDE; husband Con; and sons Stanley and Bert CALHOUN.
She is survived by her sons, Gary and Larry. Ardyth had two loving daughters-in-law--Shron and Marylou. Ardyth had been blessed with seven grandchildren--Dani, Darcee, Shane, Jarrett, Amy, Wendy and Mandi. She also had 12 great-grandchildren. Ardyth was blessed with a large extended family and many long-term friends who will all miss her very much.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Ardyth's home in Lake Creek.
