Bessie Carolyn Copenhaver-Ruth December 5, 1921 – April 24, 2013
Bessie was the last of seven children born to Franklin Edward
and Bessie Martin-Copenhaver on December 5, 1921, in Hinsdale,
Montana. She attended school there and graduated salutatorian
in 1939. She was married to Robert Le-Roy Ruth on June 14, 1940.
The couple moved to Denver in 1942, where their two children
were born. In 1947, they moved to Hot Sulphur Springs, CO where
they lived until moving to Grand Junction in 1991.
Bessie was employed as a secretary and office manager for man y
years. She was a sponsor for various youth groups, and served i n
Chapter and State offices of the Order of Eastern Star. She was active
in her churches and sang in various choirs. Bessie enjoyed
playing contract bridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Traynor of Fruita; son,
Robert L. Ruth, Jr. (Dorothy) of Grand Junction; four grandchildren;
17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on May 17, 1:00 p.m. at First
Christian Church, 1st and Kennedy, Grand Junction. Inurnment will
be at a later date in Kremmling.

Bessie Carolyn Copenhaver-Ruth, 91, Grand Junction, died
April 24, 2013, at Larchwood Inns.
Services are pending at First Christian Church through Callahan-
Edfast Mortuary.
Ms. Copenhaver-Ruth was an office manager.
Survivors include one son, Robert L. Jr. of Grand Junction; one
daughter, Carol Ann Traynor of Fruita; six grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
