Richard "Dick" Waldref passed
away on March 12, 2013, at the
age of 82.
Dick was born October 8, 1930,
in Grand Junction to Alfred and
R u t h ( C h e e d l e ) W a l d r e f . H e
graduated Grand Junction High
School in 1948, attended Mesa
College, and received a degree in
Animal Husbandry from CSU.
Dick served in the U.S. Marines Corps unti 1954. He married Phyllis
(Rohwer) Beach on April 22, 1956.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He was active
in numerous organizations including; Masons, achieving 32 °,
Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriner's Scooter Patrol, Los Sabios, Honor
Guard, Eastern Star; Grand Junction Elks Lodge #575; Western
Colorado Painting Contractors Association (Founder and past President);
Rocky Mountain Council of P.D.C.A. (President). Dick an d
Phyllis owned "Waldref's Paint Stores" in Grand Junction and
Glenwood Springs, and "Dick Waldref Painting and Decorating"
from 1969 to 1987.
Dick is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Kent (Sue) Beach of
Golden, CO; Alan (Rhonna) of Meeker, CO; Grant (Brenda) of Anchorage,
AK, and Blane of Boston, MA; five grandchildren; one
great-grandson; sister, Nancy (Charles) Jones of Mount Dora, FL.
Services will be at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Friday, March 22
at 11:00 a.m. with a 1:00 p.m. internment at the VA Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital
for Children - SLC (Development Department, Fairfax Road at Virginia
Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103).

Richard “Dick” Waldref, 82, Grand Junction, died March 12,
2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. March 22 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary
Chapel.
Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of
Western Colorado.
Mr. Waldref was a painting contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; four sons, Grant Waldref of
Anchorage, Alaska, Alan Waldref of Meeker, Blane Waldref of
Boston and Kent Beach of Golden; one sister, Nancy Jones of Orlando,
Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions to Shriners Children’s Hospital, North
Virgina St., Salt Lake City 84103.
