Lifetime Cedaredge resident and
community leader, Robert Edwin
"Ed" Marah, passed away on
Monday, March 11, 2013, at his
home in Cedaredge, Colorado.
He was 90.
A funeral service honoring Ed's
life will be held at 2:00 p.m.,
Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Cedaredge Assembly of God
Church with Pastors Gerry Chapman and Don Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Robert Edwin Marah was born to Joseph Patrick and Mary Jane
(Goodwin) Marah on November 30, 1922, in Cedaredge, Colorado.
He graduated from Cedaredge High School with the class of 1942
after taking a year absence to care for his mother and siblings after
his father's death.
On June 21, 1945, Ed married Betty Beryle Thompson in Cedaredge.
To this union a son and two daughters were born. The Marahs
would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in June.
Ed loved the Town of Cedaredge where he served in several ca -
pacities: police chief, mayor, town administrator, councilman,
deputy sheriff, EMT and volunteer fireman. He was instrumental in
the development of the Cedaredge Ambulance Service. Ed was a
faithful member of the Cedaredge Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ed was involved with several business ventures including; Tamco
Ranching, Marjo Heights housing development, Double L Construction
and the Blue Ribbon Coal Mine at Bowie, Colorado.
Ed's grandchildren brought special joy to him. He also enjoyed
cooking, baking bread, tending his garden and having frequent family
gatherings. It brought him great satisfaction to give gifts of
bread, garden produce and meals to family and friends in the community.
Those grateful to have shared in Ed's life include his wife of 67
years, Beryle; one son, Bob and wife, Becky of Cedaredge; daughters,
Terry and husband, Alan Rutan of Delta; Pat and husband,
Gerry Chapman of Aurora; two brothers, Patrick Marah and wife,
Gwen, Dale "Mike" Marah and wife, Bertie, and one sister, Helen
Kungel all of Cedaredge. Ed is further survived by seven grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Bill
Hamilton, and sister, Rosella Martin.

2013, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cedaredge Assembly of God

Survivors include his wife, Beryle; one son, Bob of Cedaredge;
two daughters, Terry Rutan of Delta and Pat Chapman of Aurora;
two brothers, Patrick Marah and Dale “Mike” Marah, both of Cedaredge;
one sister, Helen Kungel of Cedaredge; seven grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
