Avanell Irene Jensen, age 93, of
Grand Junction died March 15,
2013, at Hospice Care Center.
Avanell was born in Beach,
North Dakota to Howard and Delia
(Arneson) Sprague on February
18, 1920.
She moved to Hillsdale, WI at
two years old. She graduated from
Tony Wisconsin High School in
1938. She married Howard Jensen in 1940.
Avanell was a LPN at St. Mary’s for several years. She enjoyed her
church activities and was a dedicated Sunday School Bus Worker
for 18 years. She also enjoyed competing in senior games. Avanell
especially enjoyed teaching her grandkids how to ski.
She is survived by her five children, LeRoy (Kay), and Roger of
Grand Junction, CO; Doug (Toni) of Alamogordo, NM; Bob of Mohave
Valley, AZ; Judi Ann (Tim) Markley of Grand Junction, CO;
brothers, Dewey Sprague of California, and Art Sprague of Idaho ;
1 9 g r a n d c h i l d r e n , 2 1 g r e a t - g r a n d c h i l d r e n , a n d t w o
great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Victory
Life Church from 10 - 11:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m.,
followed by Interment at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.

Avanell Irene Jensen, 93, Grand Junction, died March 15, 2013,
at Hospice Care Center.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Victory Life
Church, followed by services at 11. Interment will be at Grand
Junction Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Jensen was a licensed practical nurse and homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, LeRoy and Roger, both of Grand
Junction, Doug of Alamogordo, N.M., and Bob of Mohave Valley,
Ariz.; one daughter, Judi Ann Markley of Grand Junction; two
brothers, Dewey Sprague of California and Art Sprague of Idaho;
19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
