Longtime local resident, Roy R.
Rakich Sr. (The Honey Man),
passed away peacefully at this
home on March 25, 2013 with his
family by his side.
Roy was born in Siloam Springs,
Arkansas to Tony A. Rakich and
H a z e l R e a d i n g R a k i c h . R o y
g r a d u a t e d f r o m G l e n w o o d
springs, High School in 1946. He
served honorably in the US Army from 1948-1952, participating i n
the Korean Conflict.
Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and meeting people in a cafe over
coffee and attending many auctions. His passion in life was caring
for his bees. He was a member of the Eagles #215 for 45 years, past
president for three years. He was a lifetime member of the American
Legion for 28 years. He married Martha A. Dennis Hughes in
1962. They had two children, Roy Jr. and Rick Rakich. Verna Jean,
Brenda and an adopted son, Billy were from both previous marriages.
Roy is survived by his wife, Martha of 50 years; sons, Rick, and
Billy; daughters, Verna (Jerry) Brought, and Brenda (Bill) Houseburg;
brother, Ralph (Doris), and many nieces and nephews; six
grandchildren, and three great-grand children. Roy Jr. preceded his
father in death in 1986. We love you and will miss you greatly forever.
Services will held at Farnum Holt Funeral Home Friday March 29,
2013, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagles
Lodge #215. Everyone is welcome.
