Doris Emma Sullivan-O’Dell passed away at her home in Craig,
Colorado on May 25, 2013, in her sleep.
She was born in Collbran, Colorado on January 7, 1925, to Leo
Lester Sullivan and Carrie Elizabeth Blackman-Sullivan. She spent
her childhood in Collbran, Whitewater, and Appleton graduating
from Appleton High School in 1943. After graduation she enlisted in
the United States Army as a Nurse, completing her enlistment
shortly after the end of WWII. While being stationed at Ft. Bli ss,
Texas, she met her soon to be husband, Garlon Ray O’Dell. they
married in Texas soon after they were both discharged from the
Army.
Doris and Garlon had five children, Patricia Ann Wyman of Pah rump,
NV; Thomas Leo (Rita Marie) O’Dell of Grand Junction;
Ronald Ray (LaRita M.) O’Dell of Grand Junction; Robert Lee
(Julie) O’Dell of Grand Junction, and Betty J. (Mervin Ray) Gorbet
of Craig. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Ray; her
mother, dad, and six brothers, Wayne, Raymond, Mike, Carl, John ,
and Jimmy, and one sister, Jerri. Her sisters, Monna Dancer and
Sharon Kyle still reside in Gillette, WY. Doris also has 14 gra ndchildren,
and 39 great-grandchildren.
Doris was a long time homemaker and worked for many years as a
seamstress for Fabricare Services. She enjoyed bowling, fishing ,
painting, crossword and picture puzzles, and spending time with her
family and friends. She spent the last several years of her lif e in
Craig with her daughter, Betty and son-in-law, “Ron” Mervin. Sh e
enjoyed having her own room with a window so she could see the
deer and birds that visited daily.
A family viewing was held on May 29 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary,
followed by cremation. Memorial services will be held on June
5 at Church of Christ, 3233 B 1/2 Road, at 1:30 p.m. followed b y a
lunch in the church kitchen at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome.
Honor Guard services and ceremonies will be at the Veterans M emorial
Cemetery at a later date.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Leo O’Dell of Fruita and
Robert Lee O’Dell of Clifton; two daughters, Patricia Ann Wyman
of Pahrump, Nev., and Betty J. Gorbet of Craig; two sisters, Monna
Dancer and Sharon Kyle, both of Gilette, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren
and 39 great-grandchildren.
