Frank D. Gordon, 83, Grand Junction, died June 6, 2013, at
HopeWest and Hospice Care Center.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary
and will conclude at Oddfellows Cemetery on Orchard Mesa.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; one daughter, Brenda Stratton
of Grand Junction; one sister, Lorene Wheeler of Logan, Utah;
four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Frank D. Gordon was born July
4 , 1 9 2 9 , i n M a n c o s , C O , t o
George and Hazel Gordon. He
was the grandson of the early pioneer
settlers in the Mancos Valley.
At an early age, he moved to
Durango, Colorado, where he received
most of his schooling. He
moved to Grand Junction, Colorado
in 1944. Frank graduated from Grand Junction High School in
1947, Mesa Junior College (now Colorado Mesa University) in
1949, and the University of Colorado in 1951. Then, by request, he
served two years in the U.S. Army. After being discharged, he returned
to Grand Junction and eventually went to work at the Atomic
Energy Commission, now the Department of Energy, in the Finance
Division. He retired after about 26 years of Government service.
In 1955, he married Connie Clark and to this union, two children
were born, Brenda and Steven. They later divorced.
Being a native Coloradoan, he loved what the State had to offer
and with family and friends, he skied, fished, hunted, camped, hiked
and enjoyed its natural beauty. He was a life member of the Elks
Lodge and a member of the Moose Lodge.
In 1988, he married Juanita Smith, acquired a recreational vehicle
and they began their traveling career, traveling throughout the
United States, most of Canada, and some of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; ex-wife, Connie;
brother, Charles, and beloved grandmother, who helped raise
him when he was young.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Brenda (Phil) Stratton
of Grand Junction; sister, Lorene (Van) Wheeler of Logan, Utah;
four grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Lacee, and Colin, and one
great-grandson, Walker.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 12th, 2013, at
10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road,
Grand Junction, Colorado. Burial will follow at the Orchard Mesa
Cemetery.
