Penny Grubb was born in Gunnison,
Colorado on October 23,
1935, to Harry C. and Ethel Ivy
Milton Grubb. She eloped with
Paul G. Patterson on September 25, 1954. They returned to Gunni -
son, and lived there until 1970, when they moved to Glenwood
Springs, and then to Grand Junction in 1979. In 1985, Penny and
Paul purchased Junction West RV Park in Grand Junction. Thanks
to her hard work and perseverance, the park grew into a thriving
business during the nearly 20 years they owned and operated it.
Penny Patterson had three children, Sherri Lee (Luke) Downing ;
Mary Ann (Charles) Reed, and Curtis Mark (Jamie) Patterson. She
spent her entire life nurturing and caring for her family, and counted
her children and their families as her greatest accomplishments and
her greatest source of pride. Penny was intelligent, stubborn, willful,
courageous, generous, strong, quick-witted, kind, funny, and a wonderful
friend. She was a woman who devoted her life to her friends
and family, and loved nothing more than demonstrating to everyone
who knew her that "food is love".
Penny is survived by her three children and their spouses; seven
grandchildren, J.C. Downing, Matthew Downing, Benjamin Patterson,
Elizabeth Patterson, Wendy Reed Andersen, Erin Reed Lewis,
and Tricia Reed, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 52 years; her parents, and her only sibling,
Gary Grubb.
She took time for everyone who needed her, listened well, and
cherished her home, her family, and her friends. Penny was loved by
many, and will be deeply missed.

2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson
Road in Grand Junction. A reception will immediately follow at her
home in Fruita.
Those who wish to honor Penny are encouraged to make donations
