Myrtle Elnora Tompkins, 83, of
Fruita, passed away June 11,
2013, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Myrtle was born in Collbran on
September 20, 1929. She went to
school in Loma and graduated
from Palisade High School in
1947.

"Frosty" Tompkins for over 62 years and was a devoted wife and
mother. Her deep love of children led her to operate a family daycare
for over 30 years where she was a second mom to many others.
In retirement she volunteered at the Fruita Thrift Store where she
enjoyed working with her close friends to raise money for many
worthwhile causes.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, William and "Kitty";
three brothers Bill, Harold, and Roscoe Wells, and a sister, Nancy
Morrison. She is survived by her husband, Frosty; sister, Rene
Keswick of San Jose, California; three sons and their spouses, Tom
Tompkins of Parachute; Brad and Kaylynn Tompkins of Grand
Junction; Mike Tompkins and Bruce Palenske of Park City, Utah;
two daughters and their spouses, Tamra and Shawn Candelaria of
Durango; Tanya Tompkins and Sal Peralta of McMinnville, Oregon;
eight grandchildren, Tehra, Katie, Savannah, Ryan, Chad, Khloe,
Bella, and Liv, and one great-grandson, Braeden.
A memorial will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Saturday,
June 15 at 1:00 p.m.
The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to Hope West for
their support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care, 3090 North
12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81506.

Myrtle Elnora Tompkins, 83, Grand Junction, died June 11,
2013, at Hope West and Hospice Care Center.
A service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Ms. Tompkins was a caring and loving mother of her six children.
Survivors include her husband, Forrest; three sons, Tom of Parachute,
Brad of Grand Junction and Mike of Park City, Utah; two
daughters, Tamra Candelaria of Durango and Tanya of McMinnville,
Ore.; one sister, Rene Keswick of San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
