Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 6 B Obituary - August 14, 2013

John David Cornett was born
September 17th, 1944, in El Centro,
California. After high school
John served his country in the
Army until 1967. On September
27th, 1969, he married the love of
his life, Becky Cornett in Santa
Ana, California. John and Becky
have three sons, Sean, Steven, and
Jeremiah Cornett, all living in the
Grand Valley area.
John made a living enjoying his favorite activities, automobile
racing and mechanics. John had many interests over his life, in -
cluding gourmet cooking, wood working, furniture restoration and
photography. Later in his life he found joy in repairing fountain pens
and writing letters to his loved ones.
John and Becky moved to Collbran, Colorado in 1984, to find a
more peaceful lifestyle in which to raise their boys. John quickly
made many friends in Collbran and in the Lower Grand Valley. He
thoroughly enjoyed his life in Collbran, and even when his health
was failing, thrived on the beauty all around him and the love of his
family and friends.
On August 8th, 2013, John joined his Heavenly Father and Lord
Jesus Christ, along with his parents, four siblings, and friends that
have preceded him. John's faith was at the core of his life and in his
final stretch here on earth passionately shared his faith to all who
enjoyed his company. He is now in the Lord’s embrace and the comfort
of heaven patiently awaiting the arrival of his beloved Becky.
Our family would like to invite you to John's memorial service, to
be held at the Collbran Congregational Church, on Friday August
16th at 3:00 p.m. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers as we
remember and celebrate John's life. If you would like to send a gift,
we ask that you would please make a donation in John's name to
Plateau Valley Hospice, who were so kind to us during John's last
years.
