Leroy E. Cotts, age 66, of Grand
Junction, Colorado, went home to
walk with Jesus on August 8,
2013.
Leroy was born in Yale, Oklahoma
on September 7, 1946. He
attended Delta High School in
Delta, Colorado until he enlisted
i n t h e U n i t e d S t a t e s M a r i n e
Corps. Between 1966 - 1975, he
served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart
Medal for combat injuries and the sacrifice of personal safety.
Leroy married Judy Strain Cotts on June 25, 1969, and was married 44 years.
While residing in Mesa County, Leroy worked for the Fruita Police Department, the Fruita Volunteer Fire Department and for Mesa
County School District. He was actively involved in the "Just 4 Fun"
Car Club as vice president and as a board member of "A House for
His Name Church" in Kannah Creek.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Judy; his mother, Nevola Cotts ; his
son, Billy and his wife, Nicole; three grandchildren, Taylor, Braylon
and Treyson, and other family and friends.
A 10:00 a.m. graveside Memorial Celebration will be held on
Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery,
2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO. A Celebration of
Leroy's life will be held at Sherwood Park after the memorial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to "Just 4
Fun" Car Club at 577 Stanford Way, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
