Donald Clemens Wiltgen age 88 of Fountain, CO passed away
August 14, 2013 in Grand Junction CO. Don was born July 22, 1925
in Decorah, IA to Mary Wiltgen (Uhlenhake) and William L. Wiltgen.
He married Darlene Fay Lively on July 24, 1943, they had three
children, Donald Dennis Wiltgen (Carol-Ann), Donna Lee Mills
(Robert), and Darrell Duane Wiltgen (Dianne); eight grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren.
Don served 2-1/2 years in WWII as a combat engineer in the invasion
of Leyte, Southern Philippines and Okinawa. He was wounded
in Okinawa in 1945 and was Awarded the Purple Heart for this, he
also received a good conduct medal and two Bronze stars. When
Don left the service he became a trim carpenter, he did this until he
retired 30 years later. He worked for Stout Construction for 23 of
those years. Don was also a charter member of the Security volunteer
fire department and served with them for 20 years. He was also
a member of the Colorado POA club, Widefield Riders, and Security
Knights of Columbus.
Don was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, five
brothers: Raymond Francis, Ralf, Richard and Walt; two sisters:
Mildred and Dolores; and one grandchild, Debbie Wiltgen.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10AM at St .
Dominic's Catholic Church in Fountain, CO. In lieu of flowers donate
to the Security Fire Department or St Dominic's Catholic
Church.
