Nick H. Mahleres, 88, Grand Junction, died Sept. 1, 2013, at
his home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary
Chapel, followed at 7 p.m. by a Trisagion prayer service. A
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox
Church with interment following at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. Mahleres was a rancher.
Survivors include his wife, Helen C.; one son, Harry N. of Aurora;
one sister, Sophia N. Hayes of Price, Utah; and six grandchildren.

Nick H. Mahleres of Grand
Junction, CO passed away at his
home on Sunday, September 1,
2013. He was 88 years of age.
Nick was born January 17, 1925,
at Price, UT to Harry J. and Ourania
(Sampinos) Mahleres. He
spent his childhood in Price and
graduated from Carbon High
School and he served in the U. S.
Army Air Corps during WWII.
On February 2, 1948, Nick married Helen C. Theos in Price where
they resided until 1952. Nick was a sheep rancher. He moved to
Meeker, CO where he ran a sheep ranch with his brother-in-law,
Tom Theos and later, his own operation on the White River until his
retirement. He then moved permanently to Grand Junction.
Nick was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. His
passion was cooking; always a hot meal ready for family, friends
and church gatherings. He loved his garden and took great pride in
maintaining his beautiful yard up until the end of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Grand Junction; a sister ,
Sophia N. Hayes of Price, UT; son and daughter-in law, Harry N.
and Claudia Mahleres of Aurora, CO; son-in-law, John Raftopoulos
of Craig, CO; six grandchildren, Nick, Eleni and Noelle Mahleres
and George, Mari Catherine and Angelo Raftopoulos; cousins,
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter,
Marianna Raftopoulos; brothers, John and Angelo and a sister, De a
Diamanti.
Visitation will be at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Thursday, September
5, from 5 - 7:00 p.m. with a Trisagion prayer service to follow.
The funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be at 1:00 p .m.
at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
