Wilma Ruth Rowland, 91, Rogers Mesa, died Aug. 21, 2013. Services
will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hotchkiss Community United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Vernon of Blue Springs, Mo., Ron of
Denver, Barry of Bradenton, Fla., and Brian of Houston, Texas; one
daughter, Kathleen Hooper of Leawood, Kan.; four grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.

Wilma Ruth Rowland, a longtime
resident of Rogers Mesa,
passed away August 21, 2013.
The youngest of six, she was born
September 29, 1921, in Arma,
Kansas to Anna and George
Cvelbar. She graduated from
Arma High School in 1939, and
attended Kansas State Teachers
College.
She married Raymond Rowland August 14, 1941, in Iola, Kansas.
They had just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary and he
survives.
She is also survived by five children, Vernon and Donna, Blue
Springs, MO; Kathleen and Don Hooper, Leawood, KS; Ron, Denver,
CO; Barry and Donna, Bradenton, FL, and Brian of Houston
TX; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Wilma was preceded in death by sisters, Mary and Ann; brothers,
Joe, Frank and Bill, and her grandson, Michael.
Wilma worked at the Federal Census Bureau in Pittsburg, KS prior
to moving to Elkhart, KS in 1966, when Raymond was superintendent
of schools there. Upon Raymond's retirement they moved to
Rogers Mesa in 1978, and had a fruit orchard. She worked at Zack's
BBQ where she was known for her pies. In 1993 they moved to their
present home. Wilma became ill in 2008 and spent her last days enjoying
watching the birds, the deer and the mountains, while she ate
her fresh strawberries.
Her wishes were to be cremated. Services will be Tuesday, August
27th, 10:30 a.m. at the Hotchkiss Community United Methodist
Church, Corner of Orchard and 2nd.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to
Hotchkiss Community United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 576
Hotchkiss, CO 81419.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral
Service and Crematory.
