Alex F. Luevano passed away on
August 22, 2013, at St. Mary's
Hospital. His sister-in-law, Ruth
Surad-Vodehnal, was with him at
his time of death, forehead to
forehead, holding his hand. She
told him how much he was loved
by all his famiy and co-workers.
Alex was born in Los Angeles,
CA to Tony and Lilia Luevano.
He married Beth Surad on April 13, 1996. His other true love was
"The Oakland Raiders", anyone who knew Alex, knew he was a
die-hard Raiders fan and he would let you know if you mentioned
the Broncos.
He attended Salesian High School, and after graduation he attended
Loyola Marymount University, where he received his degree
in Psychology.
Alex worked at the Mesa County Department of Human Services
and loved working with his "kiddos" for eight years. His last year
was focused on youth exiting the foster care system. He was very respected
and admired by the youth that he worked with, his co-workers
and the community.
Alex received a kidney transplant in 2007, the donor who he called
his "Angel" was Becky Regalado, his niece. She was the only per -
son compatible with Alex from the family. Becky started a foundation
called "The Alex Luevano Kidney Foundation", which is near
completion.
Alex is survived by his wife, Beth Surad-Luevano; his sons, Zachary
Luevano and Matthew Surad, and his three grandchildren,
Ryan, Alexis and Kaylie Surad, all of Grand Junction, CO; his
brother, Tony Luevano; his sisters, Rose Marie Regalado and Marina
Cardenas, of CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his parents, Tony and Lilia Luevano and his
in-laws, Earl and Leah Surad.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Mesa Funeral Service,
located at 2825 North Avenue, on Saturday, September 7,
2013, at 2:00 p.m. Please join us after the service at Alex and Beth's
home for a small get together and to share memories. Please feel

Alejandro Felix Luevano, 53, Grand Junction, died Aug. 22,
2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Services are plannd at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Beth; two sons, Zach and Matthew,
both of Grand Junction; one brother, Tony of Victorville, Calif.; two
sisters, Rose Mary Regalado of Los Angeles and Marina Cardenas
of Montebello, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
