Diddie Dykstra, age 91, passed
away on September 13, 2013, at
M e s a M a n o r C a r e C e n t e r i n
Grand Junction, Colorado. She is
loved and will be missed very
much.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, “Dyke”; her parents;
brother, Paul Blevins; brother-in-law, Orville Enderud, and nephew,
John Enderud.
Diddie was born in 1922, in Ovalo, Texas to Reverend J. Roy
Blevins, and Vertie Rose (Porter) Blevins. Because her father was a
Methodist Minister, she moved around frequently, living in Texa s,
Colorado, New Mexico, and Missouri. She graduated from high
school in Tularosa, New Mexico in 1939. Later, she attended Ros s
Business School in Grand Junction, Colorado, and worked at vari -
ous businesses in the area.
Diddie met Dyke at Mesa Drug Store in Grand Junction, and he
knew at that moment this was the girl he wanted to marry!! They
were married on May 31, 1942, in Denver, Colorado. They had one
son, Tom, and were married for 67 years, until Dyke’s passing i n
April of 2009.
During her adult life, Diddie lived in Houston, Texas; Grand Junction;
Glenwood Springs, and finally back to Grand Junction. She
and Dyke enjoyed their many years of membership at Bookcliff
Country Club. She also enjoyed playing golf, shelling on the beach,
and traveling with their family and many friends. Diddie loved
ducks, hummingbirds, watching sports on television, the Denver
Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies.
She is survived by her son, Tom (Patty) Dykstra of Grand Junction;
sister, Jean Enderud of Grand Junction, and niece, Shelley Ende rud
of Hailey, ID. She has two grandchildren, Jeff (Molly) Dykstra of
Edina, MN, and Leslie (Jeff) Fox of Golden, CO; two step-grandchildren,
Brian Woodward of Aarhus, Denmark, and Jodi Woodward
of Greeley, CO. She also has seven great-grandchildren,
Mackenzie, Clara, Bennett, Emily, Sydney, Lukas, and Helena; also
one “grand-cat”, Mabel of Grand Junction.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at
2:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A private inurnment will be
held at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank The Commons, HopeWest Hospice,
and Mesa Manor Staffs for their wonderful care these past four
years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Callahan-Edfast Chapel.
She is survived by one son, Thomas D. of Grand Junction; one
sister, Jean Enderud of Grand Junction; two great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grandchildren.
