Dorothy E. Haller
June 2, 1922 – September 13, 2013
Our loving mother peacefully
left this world on September 13,
2013, at the age of 91.
Dorothy Elizabeth Haller was
born on June 2, 1922, to Howard
and Leona Spudig in Philadelphia,
PA. Dorothy and her family
moved to Colorado in 1925. She
graduated from Grand Junction
High School in 1940. In 1941, she
married the love of her life, Owen Haller (deceased) and togeth er
they had six children. She was a loving and dedicated wife and
mother. In 1972, Owen passed away and Dorothy returned to Mesa
College and began her career at the Grand Junction Daily Sentin el
where she worked as a proof reader until her retirement.
After retirement, Dorothy had the opportunity to travel abroad and
experience other cultures but enjoyed her family and friends most of
all. Dorothy always had a deck of cards ready to go when her grandkids
visited. Her hobbies also included playing bingo, bowling,
quilting, embroidering and watching reruns of Bonanza and Gun
Smoke. She was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years, the
Red Hat Society, and Riverside Club. What Dorothy loved most of
all was her family and family gatherings. Whether it was holida ys,
birthdays or picnics in the park, she loved to sit and listen t o everyone
visit.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owe n
Haller; son, Gail Dean Haller; sister, Mildred Trujillo, and
son-in-law, Howard Key. She is survived by five of her children ,
Sherril A. (Howard, deceased) Key of Grand Junction, CO; Larry
(Markeeta) Haller of Ridgway, CO; Joyce Morris of Grand Junction,
CO; Sandy Downing of Avilla, MO, and Loren Haller of Fruita, CO;
her brother, Earl McFry of Grand Junction, CO; 19 grandchildren ,
46 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend
who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Viewing will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 7
- 8:00 p.m. at Mesa Funeral Service. Funeral services will be S eptember
20th at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Church, 2403 N. 12th. Street in
Grand Junction. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Elmwood
Cemetery in Fruita. Reception to follow.

Dorothy Elizabeth Haller, 91, Grand Junction, died Sept. 13,
2013, at Mesa Manor.
Services are pending with Mesa Funeral Service.
She is survived by two sons, Larry of Ridgway and Loren of
Fruita; three daughters, Sherril Key and Joyce Morris, both of
Grand Junction, and Sandy Downing of Avilla, Mo.; one brother,
Earl McFry of Grand Junction; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren;
and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
