Private family services for Eva Olive Hornbaker were held Wednesday, July 16, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Eva passed away on July 9. She was 85.
Born on March 29, 1929 in Bartlesville, OK to John and Ada (Eccelston) Bayless, Eva was raised and educatied in her birth community where she graduated from Bartlesville High School before going on to attend college and business school.
On Jan. 19, 1951 Eva married Marvin Hornbaker in a ceremony in Stinnett, TX. Their union was blessed a son, David Hornbaker.
Eva worked as an accountant in the hotel and restaurant industry but she really loved doing God's work. She volunteered for the annual Gerald Ford fund-raising golf tournament in Vail. Active all of her life in the church, Eva's last church home was the Owasso Assembly of God Church. Eva also volunteered to do recordkeeping with CIC in Wayland, MA. She loved to spread God's word and could be heard greeting a stranger with "Hello Sweetie, do you know Jesus?" Because of her love of missions Eva and her late husband will continue to support, even after death, Pueblo, Colorado's Southwest Church of Christ Missions Program.
One of Eva's favorite verses was a Proverbs 3:5-6, and she did trust in the Lord with all her heart. She was also a true Proverbs 31 woman, living the lifestyle of a loving, caring, and sharing woman of God. Eva always put others first and never complained, she just trusted in the Lord to take care of all.
Eva loved to read. She would read a book a day. Her family said all she needed was a book and a box of kittens and she'd be happy.
This loving mother and grandmother will be missed by all who knew her. Eva is survived by her son David Hornbaker and wife Mary-Ann; grandchidlren Karina and Maria Hornbaker; nephew Gorden Savage and wife Deb;
