Richard Lee Earich
December 17, 1935 - February 8, 2014
Richard L. Earich, 78, born to the late Harold and Ruth (Miller)
Earich in Columbus, Ohio, passed away suddenly Saturday, February
8th, in Palmetto, FL.
Dick served proudly in the United States Army for two years, after
which he returned to work at Ranco, the Delaware Plant, until he retired
in 1985. Dick and wife, Carol, moved to Florida in 1985, settling
in Palmetto, and worked at the Bradenton Country Club for 12 years as
a grounds keeper around the clubhouse. Dick loved working with the
soil and making things beautiful. He was also a wonderful craftsman
who loved working with many kinds of wood; his imagination was
vast, matched only by his talent. Dick loved the water and watching the
wildlife in and around it. When mischievous raccoons and armadillos
ventured into his beautiful yard and flowers, he made sure they were
quickly relocated to the wild.
Dick, though being a very quiet and private person, was always there
for anyone who wanted or needed his help. Unfortunately, he never
really understood how talented he was and never believed he was loved
by many, and that he deserved that love. He will be profoundly missed
by Carol, his wife of 40 years, and his family and friends.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Shannon) Earich; sister
and brother-in-law, Sally and John Tunstall of Dunn, NC; son and
daughter-in-law, Tony and Vicki Earich of Grand, CO; sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, Pat (Shannon) and John Gilliam of Palmetto; brotherin-
law and sister-in-law, Tom and Georganne Shannon; nephew, Marc
Tunstall of Anchorage, AK; nephew, Scott Tunstall of Greenville, SC;
two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren of Grand Junction,
CO.
In accordance with Dick’s wishes there will be no services.
Arrangements are being handled by Groover Funeral Home, Ellenton.
Donations may be made to any suicide prevention foundation or to the
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Kanab, UT.
