Verne Ray Anderson, 82, Georgetown, Texas, died Feb. 22, 2014, in Georgetown.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Inurnment was at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. Anderson was a general contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; three daughters, Lisa Johnson, Julie Kennedy and Amy Adams; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Verne Ray Anderson
September 7, 1931 - February 22, 2014
Verne Ray Anderson was born on
September 7, 1931, to his loving
parents, Carl B. and Lela Wilcox
Anderson in Fruita, Colorado.
He spent his early childhood in
Eastern Utah. Summers were spent
at his grandfather’s sheep ranch,
located east of the Green River in
the Uintah Mountains.
Verne graduated from Grand Junction High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, he was presented with a written invitation by President Harry S. Truman for an all-expense paid trip to Korea, via the US Navy. This assignment was to help the South Koreans protect their country from the North.
Following the resolution of this conflict, President Dwight D. Eisenhower extended this all-expense paid trip for another one and a half years. This time was spent in French Indo-China, helping the French leave Vietnam.
After his discharge from the Navy in 1955, Verne attended Mesa Jr.
College and Western State College. On April 7, 1962, he married Marsha Guerrie and from this union they raised three daughters, Lisa, Julie and Amy.
He owned a design and build construction company; designing and building many projects throughout Colorado, Utah and Nevada. After living in Las Vegas for 18 years they retired to Denver, Colorado and later to Georgetown, Texas.
In retirement, Verne’s exceptional art talent became his ultimate hobby.
He was a master of water color, oils, charcoal sketches and constructing wine-cork bird houses. His gift of art created many outstanding treasures enriching the homes of friends, relatives and birds!
His love and devotion to Marsha, his children, and grandchildren were
paramount to his living a long and fulfilling life.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marsha; three daughters, Lisa Johnson, Julie Kennedy and Amy Adams; grandchildren, Taylor and Ashton Johnson, Molly Kennedy, Amber Schaufler (Jason), Alexis and Jamie Adams; great-granddaughter, Tinley Schaufler; sisters, Shirley McCabe and Phyllis Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
Verne was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in
Grand Junction, Colorado at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014. A private inurnment was held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
