Sheldon “Shelly” Riley Roush
May 10, 1943 - March 24, 2014
Sheldon Riley Roush is now with
the Lord. He died March 24, 2014,
after many years of struggling with
dementia and heart disease. He
was 70.
Sheldon was born in Denver, CO,
to Robert Z. and Myrth N. Roush.
He grew up in the town of old Dillon.
He graduated from Breckenridge High School and Colorado State University. In 1971, he married Linda J. Farmer. Together they had two sons, Charles Sheldon and Richard Adam.
After serving in the Navy, Shelly worked as an Industrial Arts teacher and a land surveyor. He was passionate about motorcycles and farming.
In 1974, he started Summit Honda Motorcycles. The success of the business took a toll on his health. Selling the business gave him time to pursue his passion of farming. He farmed in Rifle, CO and Loma, CO.
As a younger man Sheldon lived out his faith in Jesus Christ as an active member of Loma Community Church, serving on the board and as a member of Rocky Mountain Baptist Church. It was important to him that his family have a strong faith in Jesus Christ.
Shelly, Papa, Grandpa will be missed by his family whom he loved very much.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda; son, Charles Sheldon (Mindy) of Loma and Richard Adam (Kathleen) of Grand Junction; grandchildren, Riley, Lydia, and Eva; brothers, Robert Ronald (Jerrilyn), Richard Arlen (Ivena) and Gerald Raymond (Elaine); many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sheldon is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrth Roush.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 4, 2014, 11 a.m. at
Loma Community Church, 1708 Garfield St., Loma, CO. Pastor Jeff Goodwin will officiate. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 5, 2014, 11 a.m. at Dillon Cemetery, Hwy 6, Dillon, CO.
