Dorothy May Emms passed
away peacefully on August 6,
2013, with her family by her side.
A Christmas baby born on December
25, 1923, on a farm in
Geneva, Nebraska, Dorothy was
89.
She is preceded in death by her
husband, Ken. Dorothy and Ken
were married in Denver. They
were married for 47 years at the time of Ken's passing.
In 1986, at the conclusion of their working careers in Aurora, the
Emms' packed up all of their possessions and moved to Grand Junction
to enjoy retirement. Avid outdoors people, Dorothy and Ken
spent their time hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and traveling.
The couple traveled all over the United States including trips down
the Mississippi River and Alaskan Cruises. Outside the US, their
travels included the Panama Canal, Mexico, Okinawa, Japan, and
the Philippines.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Melva Heid; brother, Robert
Sutter; sister, Ruth Merryman; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren,
and six great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday
August 9, 2013, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road,
Grand Junction Colorado, 81505.

Dorothy M. Emms, 89, Grand Junction, died Aug. 6, 2013, at
Eagle Ridge of Grand Valley.
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. today at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary Chapel.
Ms. Emms was an administrative assistant.
Survivors include one daughter, Melva Heid of Las Vegas, Nev.;
one brother, Robert Sutter of Hastings, Neb.; one sister, Ruth Merryman
of Geneva, Neb.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grandchildren.
