Funeral held for John Bridges.
Funeral services for John H. Bridges, a long time resident of Eagle Valley, were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 31st, at the Eagle Community Church in Eagle with the Rev. Henry Straw officiating. Burial was in the Sunset View Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. The Sowder Funeral Home of Rifle was in charge of arrangements.
John Harvey Bridges was born on Nov. 25, 1899 at Ashley, Ill., the son of Willard and Ada Burghardt Bridges. He passed away at his home in Eagle Saturday morning, Oct. 29.
Mr. Bridges, known to his many friends as "Jack," was educated in the Ashley, Ill. schools and grew to manhood in that community. He was united in marriage with Wahneta Weiss on June 7, 1923 at Ashley. Mr. and Mrs. Bridges moved to East St. Louis following their marriage, where Mr. Bridges worked for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.
In 1929 they moved to Colorado, where they lived at Redcliff. Mr. Bridges began his career with the New Jersey Zinc Company at Gilman retiring as mill boss in 1964. Mr. and Mrs. Bridges had moved to Eagle in 1940 where they since made their home. Mrs. Bridges passed away in November, 1970.
Mr. Bridges was a member of the Methodist Church in Eagle; also a member of Castle Lodge No. 122 Ancient Free, Accepted Masons, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Cook and two brothers, Earl and Willard.
Survivors include a god-daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Eichler of Eagle; several nephews and nieces, including Earl Bridges of Highland, Ill. and Wallace Weiss of Florence, Ky., other relatives and many friends.

John (Jack) Harvey Bridges, a long-time resident of the Eagle Valley, was born on Nov. 25, 1899 at Mount Vernon, Ill., the son of Willard and Ada Burghardt Bridges. Bridges died in his home at Eagle on the morning of Oct. 29, 1977.
Bridges spent his childhood in the Ashley, Ill., area, attending school there. He was married to Wahneta Weiss on June 7, 1923 in Ashley. The Bridges moved to East St. Louis after their marriage, where Bridges worked for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.
