Trinda Hope Weymouth passed away unexpectedly on June 28 at her home in Boulder. Trinda was born May 1, 1967, in Holland, Mich., to Laurance B. Kupfrian, II, and Julia E. Riesberg Matalon.
She was married to Gene Weymouth, Jr., in Steamboat Springs in 1994; the couple divorced without children in 2009.
Trinda was an entrepreneur. She attended Crested Butte School and graduated from Gunnison High School in 1985 where she was Homecoming queen the previous fall. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from CU Boulder in 1989, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Besides being a world traveller, Trinda was involved in the World Hunger Project, the Brandywine Conservancy in Pennsylvania, and community theater in Crested Butte and Steamboat Springs. She enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She also worked for various charitable fundraisers.
Trinda was preceded in death by her father Laurance; her Aunt Paula Gauna; her grandparents and several cousins.
She is survived by her mother Julia and step-father Robin J. (Bob) Matalon of Crested Butte; Aunt Lauralee (Charles) Burt of California; Uncle Russell Kupfrian of Nevada; Uncle Gregory (Debbie) Wildey, Sr., of Michigan; and numerous cousins.
A memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at noon at the Crested Butte Cemetery, to be officiated by Rev. Tim Clark. A reception will follow at Rainbow Park at 8th Street and Marroon Avenue in Crested Butte. In case of inclement weather, services will be held at Union Congregational Church, 403 Maroon Ave.
