A former Grand Junction resident, Carolina Carpio Tirado Powers, passed away April 5th, 2014, in Littleton, CO.
A burial service will be held at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens, 2970 North Avenue on Saturday, May 12th, at 1:00 p.m. Carolina was born May 21, 1924, in Arequipa, Peru.
As a young woman in Peru she met her husband for life (60 years), Philip Powers (died December 24, 2010), in South America, while he was there as a mining engineer. Carolina subsequently sacrificed leavingher family and country for a life in the states.
Their companionship included the birth of their three sons (and respective grandchildren), Richard of Costa Rica (son, Chase, daughter,
Chyna); Robert of Littleton, CO (son, Austin), and Bruce of Austin, TX (son, Corey, daughter, Elysse).
Among Carolina’s joys (and sorrows) of raising her boys, were knitting,camping, traveling, games, time with family, and love of her cats.
