Jack Kenneth Hillis, 84, went
home to be with his Lord and
Savior on Tuesday, November
26, 2013. Jack was the son of
Loyce O. and Tula M. Hillis. He
was born October 22, 1929, in
Clinton, Oklahoma.
Jack graduated from Central
High School. He joined the
Navy after high school and was
stationed in Fajardo, Puerto Rico until 1954. In 1952, Jack married
the love of his life, Pauline Lois Hefley. Jack and Peggy spent many
years in Rangely, Colorado where he worked in the oil field, as a
welder, pumper and operator of shallow leases. When he retired
they moved to Palisade, CO until the death of his beloved Peggy
in 1987. In 1987, he married Lola Rosette and they later moved to
Montrose. In his later years, he returned to the Grand Junction area
until the time of his death.
Jack was a very kind and loving father and husband. He was an
awesome “Boppa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He loved the Lord and made Him a priority in his life. Jack was
a member of A House for His Name Church in Kannah Creek. He
enjoyed farming, his fruit orchards, and raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; his wife,
Lola; two brothers, Loyce Jr. and Travis and great-grandson, Soren.
He is survived by Patsy (Jon) Drindak; Nancy (Jim) MacIntosh
of Fruita; Susan (Jerry) Anderson of Evergreen, CO; Kenny
(Georgia) Hillis of Mack; Dennis (Lori) Rosette of Grand Junction;
grandchildren, Erin (Jon) McEvers, Evergreen, CO; Keenan
(Ashley) Anderson, Grand Junction; Stephanie (Ty) Petersburg,
Evergreen, CO; Erik (Stephanie) Ebbesen, Loma; Jon (Kayo)
Drindak, Los Alamitos, CA; Brook (Don) Wilson, Silt, CO; Zach
MacIntosh of Grand Junction; Karl (Kyli) Rosette of Las Vegas, NV;
Shane (Heather) Stephen Mansfield, TX; Jamie (Ray) McLennan
Fruita, CO; great-grand children, Addison, Quinn, Boden, Lukas,
Juli, Nathan, Hannah, Austin, Adam, Charlee Rose, and Tegan.
A memorial service will be held December 3 at the Canyon View
Vineyards at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HopeWest
Hospice Care Center.
