at HopeWest Hospice Care Center.

She is survived by one son, Bryan Maltby of San Diego, Calif.;
two brothers, Robert Potter and Bert K. Potter; one sister, Reba R.
Hayes; and two grandchildren.

Betty McKelvey, 78, passed
away December 9th, with her
family by her side at HopeWest
Hospice Care Center.
Born in Collbran, CO to Frank
and Tillie Potter, Betty was
the oldest of four children. She
started school at Parker Basin,
then moved to a two room
school in Pitkin, CO. From there
she went to Palisade where she
graduated from high school in 1953. She then joined the work force
in Denver before moving to Southern California where she was
married and raised her son. After this she moved back to Colorado
to care for her ailing mother. Then began a 20 year period of
bartending at VFW 1247 in Grand Junction where she met her late
husband, John McKelvey.
Betty loved gardening and raised many flowers and vegetables.
She also made it a habit of rescuing small dogs.
She is survived by her son, Bryan (Tiffany) Maltby; granddaughter,
Charlize, and grandson, Colt of California; two brothers, Robert
Potter of Casper, WY, and Bert Potter of Montrose, and sister, Reba
Hayes of Clifton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice,
3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO, 81506 or Roice-Hurst
Animal Shelter, POB 404, Grand Junction, CO, 81502. Betty chose
cremation and a memorial service will be held by her family in the
Spring.
