Raydean, who preferred to be called Deanie, was born on August 5, 1918, in San Antonio, FL to Raymond and Sophia Sheldon.
It was at Shaffer’s Crossing, CO that she met the man with whom she would spend the next 49 years, Glen Arnold. They were married on December 30, 1936. Deanie and Glen were blessed with four children, Kenny, Judy, Betty and Sally; ten grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Deanie enjoyed playing cards, gardening, the garden club, bird watching, jeeping, picnics with her family and friends, traveling, playing bingo and various arts and crafts. She received many awards for floral design at the local county fair. She loved watching game shows on television, especially “The Price Is Right”.
Deanie is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Raymond and Sophie Walter; husband, Glen Arnold; brother, James Sheldon; sister, Ruth Lee, and daughter, Betty “Jody” Dean.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Mesa Funeral Service, 2825 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO with interment taking place immediately following at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
