Marian spent her childhood in Steamboat, and graduated from Steamboat High School in 1948. On July 24, 1948, Marian married Robert “Bob” J. Kagie at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat. To this union, eight children were born. The Kagie’s owned a ranch 20 miles outside of Hayden where they raised sheep, cattle, horses, chickens and pigs. Marian and Bob celebrated their 47th anniversary before Bob’s passing in 1995. Marian was a devoted wife and beloved mother and grandmother. She loved the farm life and spending time tending to her gardens. In her spare time, she also loved to study genealogy. Marian was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #4265 for over 20 years. Marian is survived by five daughters: Lois (Bob) Wells; Kathleen Reck; Jeannie (George) Wixson; Deborah (Delbert) Kemry; and Theresa (Jim) Bridges; two sons, Jim (Vicki) Kagie and Mark Kagie; two sisters, Doris Cornell and Janice Pudge; and one brother, Bob Walsh. Marian is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her husband; one son, John Kagie; and a granddaughter, Mary Sampias. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #4265; or to a charity of the donor’s choice in c/o Grant Mortuary.
