Dorothy S. HUGHES, of Glenwood Springs, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, in Carbondale. She was 89. Private services in celebration of her life have taken place. Dorothy was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Fair Haven, N.J., the daughter of John A. and Herma (Hollenthrower) SCHUMANN. She spent her childhood in New Jersey and married James A. HUGHES on Oct. 18, 1944. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1989, in Fair Haven. An accomplished artist, Dorothy was also a homemaker, a 17-year resident of Glenwood Springs, and a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. She is survived by three sons, James Peter HUGHES, Timothy Andrew HUGHES and Michael Paul HUGHES; a daughter, Jamie Diane THRUN; a brother,, Herbert SCHUMANN; and two grandchildren. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, 405 W. Seventh St., Glenwood Springs, is in charge of arrangements.
