LaDonna Fae Church, 92, Grand Junction, died May 17, 2014,
at Larchwood Inns.
Services will be at 10 a.m. May 30 at Martin Mortuary.
Survivors include one son, Donald Cover of Lakewood; three
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

LaDonna Fae died late Saturday
evening May 17, 2014, at Larchwood
Inns in Grand Junction, Colorado.
She was born on a ranch near
Franktown, Colorado, to Paul and
Fae Dellinger McKissack. Several
years after she was born, her family
purchased a second ranch, adjacent
to what is now I-25 in Douglas County. She and her brother, Jack,
attended the one-room Happy Canyon School, the Parker School, and
then, in 1934, after her family moved to Edgewater, Colorado, Wheat
Ridge High School. She graduated from Manual Training High School
in 1938. She was employed at Lowry Air Force Base during World
War II and also as a legal secretary for several law firms in downtown
Denver. She also worked at Fitzsimons General Hospital. She returned
to Lowry Air Force Base in 1963 as an Administrative Board Reporter
and then, in 1967, was employed as a Court Reporter in the Staff Judge
Advocate Office until she retired in 1982.
She was married to Dean Orin Cover in 1941; now deceased. A son,
Don Cover, was born in 1947, to this marriage. She was also married to
Harold Clauer in 1949. They were later divorced. She and Bobbie Jack
“BJ” Church were married in October, 1964. They lived in Aurora and
Lakewood, Colorado and moved to Grand Junction in 1986. BJ became
very active in Masonic work, and they both held many offices in the
Order of the Eastern Star (OES). She was a 60-plus member of OES
and Past Matron of Sunshine Chapter No. 53. She was also a former
member of Zora Club No. 2, Daughters of the Nile, and the Colorado
West Star Steppers. She was a member of the Monument Presbyterian
Church and had served various offices in the Presbyterian churches in
Aurora and Lakewood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, BJ Church; her mother
and father, Fae and Paul McKissack, and her brother, Jack McKissack.
She is survived by her son, Donald Cover, of Lakewood, Colorado;
three grandchildren, Benjamin Cover of Longmont, Colorado; Abigail
Norton of Savannah, Georgia, and Jonathan Cover of Fort Worth, Texas,
as well as seven great-grandchildren, Jenifer, Samantha, Nicholas,
Madelin, Jack, Aidan, and Taylor. She will be remembered with love
and kindness by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, at the Martin Mortuary
Chapel in Grand Junction at 10:00 a.m.
