Miles Crisler McCormack, 93, of
Grand Junction, Colorado, passed
away on April 12, 2014.
Miles was born to Edward and
Josephine McCormack on March
20, 1921, in Memphis, Tennessee.
There, he graduated from Sewanee
Military Academy in 1938. He enlisted
in the United States Army
Air Corp. on Christmas Day, 1941 and became a B-17 Bomber Pilot.
In October of 1943, his plane was shot down over Denmark and he
became a Prisoner of War (POW), until his release in 1945.
Miles returned to the United States and married the late Marie Theresa
Cody. He was reassigned to Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War
until his discharge on August 18, 1953. Miles and Marie later moved
to Lakewood, Colorado where he worked until his retirement in 1987,
at which time Miles and Marie relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado.
Miles was a loyal member of the Commemorative Air Force of Grand
Junction, Colorado.
Military Interment will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014, at 1:00 P.M.
at the Veteran’s Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Pkwy, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31,
2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road,
Grand Junction, Colorado 81505.
