May M. Maupin, 97, Grand Junction, died June 16, 2014, at her
home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, with a private interment to follow at Nucla Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Ern of Grand Junction; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

April 2, 1917 - June 16, 2014
May M. Maupin was born at the family home in Paradox, Colorado April 2, 1917, to Steve and Nixie Chiles Swain, the fourth of six siblings; all preceded her in death. She was under the wonderful care of HopeWest Hospice when she passed away at home in Grand Junction, Colorado June 16, 2014.
May graduated from Nucla High School May 15th, 1935, the same day she and Philo (better known as Bud) Maupin were married; he preceded her in death. They lived the ranching life from the date of their
marriage until he retired from active ranching in 1981.
May is survived by one son, Ern of Grand Junction; one granddaughter, Stephanie of Midland, TX, and three great-grandchildren, Shadow, Cody and Derek. Two daughters, Janice and Letta, preceded her in death.
Wilma Heffelfinger expressed it perfectly when she said in “My Mother’s Hands” “This world has many wonders God’s many vistas grand, But none can ever rival The beauty of Mother’s hands”.
She was beautiful inside and outside; hearing the truth of the Gospel made it all possible. Now she is in the best place.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Private interment will take place at the Nucla Cemetery.
