John A. Galloway, 71, Palisade, died June 17, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Galloway was an architect.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. today at St. Ann’s Catholic church in Palisade. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church.
Survivors include his wife, Susie, of Palisade; two sons, Munro of New Haven, Connecticut, and Alex of New York City; one daughter, Tamsen of Hillsboro, Oregon; one sister, Alice Bullwinkle of Denver; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

John Arthur Galloway
February 26, 1943 - June 17, 2014
John Arthur Galloway passed away peacefully at his home in
Palisade on June 17th, with his wife, Susie, by his side.
He was born in Plainfield, New Jersey to Mary and Howard Galloway, and graduated from the Mount Hermon School in 1961,and Principia College in 1965. He traveled west to work on the Rocking H Ranch outside Jackson Hole,
Wyoming, an experience that would make him a lifelong westerner.
His love of ranch life led him to The Thacher School in Ojai, California where he taught history and horseback riding before serving in the United States Army. In 1967, he married Frances Wood and had two sons, Munro and Alexander. He received his architecture degree from the University of Oregon in 1985, and worked for Jones & Jones Architects,
a firm in Seattle, before eventually starting his own practice.
John and Susie were married in 1988, and lived in Seattle for ten years before moving to Colorado in 1998. John designed and built their house outside of Molina, where they stayed until moving to Palisade in 2013. He worked for many years as an architect, designing businesses, public buildings and private residences in Colorado and the Northwest.
He was a principal in the firm Wagner/Galloway architects and served on the boards of the Palisade Historical Society and Palisade Chamber of Commerce. In addition he was a founding member and Paul Harris Fellow of Palisade Sunrise Rotary.
Warm, thoughtful and creative, he loved to be outside, build with his hands, and care for animals. The twinkle in his eye will be fondly remembered by his wife, Susie; sons, Munro and Alexander; daughter, Tamsen; sister, Alice; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Melissa, Grant, and Merritt; great-granddaughter, Lily, and granddaughter, Musa.
Services will be Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, Palisade.
