Carl T. “Rizer” Garcia
May 25, 1961 - June 21, 2014
On June 21st, the Lord called for Carl to join Him in heaven.
He was born to Tony and Angie Garcia, the child to complete their family of five children. He was brother to Cathy Garcia, Cyndi Garcia-Kirby, Charles Garcia and Connie (Garcia) Runnestrand; uncle to six; great-uncle to three, and grandfather to Madison, who loved him dearly. Most of all he was father to Alura and Matice.
He was raised and lived in Grand Junction the majority of his life. Both of his daughters were his world. His only wife Shannon, mother of the girls, also kept in close contact even after a divorce.
Around 2006, he entered into a relationship with Paula Joyce, a friend of his sister. They shared their life with many extended families and friends. He enjoyed and thrived on the love of these people.
He loved family, sports, Rockies and Broncos. The Daily Sentinel did an article about him as a living legend in fastpitch softball. He also made home run records at Orchard Mesa Little League.
Children made this man grin and he loved interacting with them and making them smile. Any time you were around Carl he would have a hug, a kiss, and a joke to make you smile and to greet you. Kindness was his golden rule.
Although he was disabled, all who knew him would think otherwise. His body would hurt and tolerate chronic pain. He kept his pain from being visible.
He was a die hard fan of The Broncos and had much memorabilia of his favorite team. On his truck and even the walls of his home, were Blue and Orange.
Good times, happiness and kindness were Carl. His family requests everyone wear “broncos” comfortable wear to Rosary and Funeral, also any Jimmy Buffet shirt.
Rosary will be recited at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Thursday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, June 27th at 1:00 p.m., also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Orchard Mesa Calvary Cemetery.
