Jim D. Cooper, 77, Fruita, died July 1, 2014, in Grand Junction.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Martin Mortuary. A
service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Martin Mortuary, followed by
a graveside service at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper worked for the city of Grand Junction.
Survivors include one sister, Gladys Tucker of Grand Junction,
and two grandchildren.

Jim was born in Cordell, OK on
September 22, 1936, to Ormal and
Lura (Hollandsworth) Cooper.
“Coop” was 77 years old. He and
his family moved to Grand Junction
when he was nine months old.
Jim graduated from Central High
School in 1954. He served in the
U.S. Army and was a volunteer at
the VA Medical Center in Grand
Junction.
He had one son, Jimmy Cooper, born August 21, 1968 who preceded
him in death.
He worked for the City of Grand Junction for 35 years.
Coop was active in the Mesa County Sheriff’s Posse and was a past
president and active in search and rescue. He had many interests including
cowboyin’ and ranching, hunting and fishing, and being with
family and friends.
Jim was married to Linda Cooper, and they enjoyed their retirement
years together.
Jim is survived by his sister, Gladys (Merlin) Tucker; nephew, Steve
Tucker; niece, Cheryl (Tim) Bennett, and granddaughters, Koli (Tony)
Rossi, and Katelyn Cooper and their mother, Pinky Burwell. He is also
survived by grand-nieces, Tori Tucker and Tanisha (Shannon) Kingsbury.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy; his wife,
Linda, and many extended family and friends.
There will be a viewing on Monday, July 7th at Martin Mortuary from
4 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday July 8,
2014, at 11:00 followed by an interment at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mesa County Sheriff’s
Posse.
