Scott Erik Nielsen, 51, Hotchkiss, died July 2, 2014, at his home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Taylor Funeral Service in Hotchkiss.Mr. Nielsen was a painter. Survivors include his mother, Betty of Hotchkiss; his father, Charles of Clifton; two sisters, Kathy Brown and Suzy Conner, both of Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, Erika Nielsen of Knoxville, Ten-nessee; two sons, Tristin Sargent of Grand Junction and Clayton Nielsen of Hotchkiss; and one grandchild. Memorial contributions to Men’s AA Workshop Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 279, Cory 81414.

Scott Erik Nielsen died Wednesday
July 2, 2014, at his home in
Hotchkiss. He was 51.
His memorial service was held
July 8, 2014 at Taylor Funeral Service
in Hotchkiss.
Scott was born March 9, 1963,
in Delta, Colorado, to Charles and
Betty Nielsen. He spent his childhood
in Hotchkiss and graduated
from Hotchkiss High School in 1981. He was a self-employed painter,
but his real love was being a cowboy. Scott always said he was born
100 years too late.
Scott was a real outdoorsmen, he loved fishing, hunting, camping and
riding his horses.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Edna
Bruce of Delta and Lewis and Jessie Nielsen of Hotchkiss.
Scott is survived by his mother, Betty Nielsen of Hotchkiss; his father,
Charles Nielsen of Clifton; two sisters, Kathy Brown (Brian), and
Suzy Conner (Jack), all of Amarillo, Texas; his children, Erika Nielsen
and her daughter, Rileigh of Knoxville, Tennessee; Tristin Sargent
of Grand Junction; Clayton Nielsen of Hotchkiss; two nieces, Ronna
(Kyle) McAdams and Lauren Brooks; three nephews, Landon Brown,
Nielsen Conner and Brysen Conner; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the
Men’s AA Workshop Scholarship Fund, PO Box 279 Cory, Colorado
81414. Scott was a recipient of this scholarship several years ago.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service
and Crematory.
