Gerald Lee West passed away at
St. Mary’s Hospital on December
7, 2013.
He was born in Ontario, CA to
Esther (Mohrloch) and Walter
West on January 8, 1930. He
graduated from Santa Ana High
School, and joined the Navy.
He met Miyako Hatakayama in
Japan. They married in 1957, in
Nevada. Gerry served 23 years
in the Navy. After his discharge,
he joined his wife in Santa Clara,
CA. They enjoyed spending time
with family and friends. They
were married for 46 years; she
preceded him in death in 2003.
After Miyako’s death, Gerry
moved to Grand Junction to be
close to family.
He is survived by sister, Gloria
(Joe) Kelly; brother, Walter
(Liz) West; sister-in-law, Noriko
(Garland) Roush; nieces, Terrie
Knoll, Pandy Wilson, and Lisa Hockenberry; nephews, Steve West,
Don West, and Sean West, and their families. He is also survived by
numerous cousins, and friends.
Gerry was preceded in death by his brother, Donald West.
He will be buried in Santa Clara, California.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Residence Assisted
Living Facility for their kindness and loving concern for Gerry
while he was in their care for the last eighteen months.
