Robert C. English, 92, Grand Junction, died Aug. 1, 2014, at his residence.
Military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Mr. English was locally known as “Ye Olde Clockmaker.”
He is survived by his wife Donna Mae; two sons, Michael and David; two daughters, Kathleen and Christine; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Robert was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. English, August 8, 1921, in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from Northern High School in 1939, then worked at General Foundry & Manufacturing Co., from 1940 to 1942, as a timekeeper. He married Donna Mae Frownfelter on April 17, 1942, they celebrated 72 years of marriage on April 17, 2014.
He joined the Army Air Force in 1942, and served until 1945, during this time he was an airplane mechanic and Crew Chief with the 90th Bomb Group, 320th Bomb Squadron, in the B-24 Bomber Group, serving in the Pacific area during World War II.
He returned to General Foundry after being discharged from service and continued to work as a Purchasing Agent and Production Manager until 1957. He then accepted a Material Liaison job at Convair Division of General Dynamics in San Diego, California and moved there with his family in 1957. He then accepted a Senior Buyer position at Solar Turbines International, in 1962. Retired from Solar in 1978, but was asked to come back as a consultant for a number of years.
After retirement he and his wife, Donna Mae, traveled the country, in a motorhome, then settled in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1988.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling and had a hobby of woodworking and clock making and was known as “Ye Olde Clockmaker”, having shipped many of his clocks to buyers all over the U.S.A, also England and France.
He leaves his wife, Donna Mae; daughters, Kathleen of Cory, Colorado; Christine of Grand Junction, Colorado; sons, Michael of Moreno Valley, California, and David of Grand Junction, Colorado. He had five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at Callahan-Edfast, with interment at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Grand Junction, Colorado, at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Grand Junction (DAV) or HopeWest Hospice.
