Janet passed away in the peace and comfort of her daughter’s home on February 8, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 77-years-young. She died after a brief illness. She was born in Craig, Co to Paul and Julia Biskup-Kawcak, the 14th of 16 children. After graduating from MCHS in 1956 she married and to this union was born Debbie Jo who died in infancy, a daughter Cindy, a son Rocky and a son Timothy Joe who died at birth.
Janet was a head baker at Breeze Elementary and a checker for City Market until retirement. She was a life-long member of St. Michaels Catholic Church where she volunteered in the office and on the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and Preserving the West Society, which works at preserving the heritage of the pioneers of Northwest Colorado. She was a loyal fan of the Craig Bulldog’s, and all the professional teams of Colorado. She was a skilled softball pitcher at fast and slow pitch softball and also enjoyed her bowling teams. She could be seen walking daily around Craig until the last months of her life. She edited her mother’s book “A Very Fruitful Life” in conjunction with the Museum of Northwest Colorado in the last few years. She traveled with Life Long Learning Travelers all over Colorado. Through all endeavors in life she made many friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, children Debbie and Timothy, brothers Steve, Joe, Nick and Tom, sisters Mary, Helen, Anna, Julia and Alice.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy, son Rocky and siblings Eva (Leonard) Robertson, brothers Mike, Paul, Dan and Ivan (Regina), Bob and numerous nieces and nephews.
Internment services were conducted at the Craig Cemetery next to her two children, who preceded her in death. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 678 School Street in Craig, Colorado. Janet would request that you call a parent, child or loved one and tell them that you love them.
